BOREN SECURES $450,000 FOR
JUSTICE PROGRAMS

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren has secured $450,000 for justice programs and equipment in Oklahoma.

“It is critical that we continue to obtain funding that gives our law enforcement agencies the necessary tools to keep our citizens safe.  I’m proud this funding will both help protect our children and give crime fighters state-of-art communication and investigation technology,” Boren said.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Oklahoma’s KidSafe Program will receive $150,000 to be used for a three-year program to provide a specialized child-abuse investigator in each of the 17 district attorney’s districts that contain children advocacy centers representing 44 counties.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation will receive $300,000 for a Mobile Analysis Center which will be equipped with secure computer hardware/software and communication-networking systems that will allow trained crime analysts to receive, analyze, and disseminate raw intelligence data necessary to state and national homeland security efforts.

The funding was part of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations portion of the Omnibus Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2009 which passed the House Wednesday by a vote of 245 to 178.
